  • Great for classrooms!
  • Awesome walking stick insect encased in acryllic!
  • Great desk decor!

The "walking stick" insect makes up the order of insects known as Phasmatodea. This name is derived from the Greek word phasma, which means an apparition or phantom, and refers to many species of this insect resembling the look and color of sticks, leaves or even lichen! Next time you're looking at a stick, look a little closer-you may find it's not a stick at all! They are found all over the world, but most are found in tropical environments. Did you know that these can make great pets? They are actually pretty easy to care for! Also, one of the rarest insects in the whole world is a walking stick. The Lord Howe Island stick insect was once thought to be extinct, but in 2001, researchers found 20-30 living under a shrub on Ball's Island in Australia.

Now, you can get a great specimen of a REAL walking stick mounted in a clear acrylic block. Get an up close and personal look at one of the coolest insects around! Great for looking at details under a microscope, or for having in the classroom, this is a great educational resource for the young science student or for the serious entomologist!

Actual size of block is 4.25in x 1.75in x 1in (10.8cm x 4.4cm x 2.5cm)

Box Size: 5.50in (13.97cm) x 2.50in (6.35cm) x 1.25in (3.18cm)

Recommended for ages 10 and older.
